Suffield Pickleball: A Place to Play—No Matter the Season

Pickleball has caught the country by storm and, for those of us who love the game, we want to play ALL. THE. TIME. You get it. We get it. But when winter rolls in, finding a place to pay - without battling freezing temps and surprise snowstorms - can be a challenge.

New England was a little late to the pickleball craze, and indoor courts aren’t always easy to find. That’s exactly why Suffield Pickleball was born.

A Pickleball Love Story - Turned Community Hub

Dan and Jen Laing of South Hadley, MA started like many of us - they signed up for a beginner clinic, got hooked, and suddenly, pickleball was their new favorite activity. While their local outdoor courts were great for summer games with friends, winter left them with fewer options.

Instead of waiting for someone else to build a solution, they teamed up with two other couples - the Fydenkevez and the Murdocks - to create their own. They repurposed an unused warehouse and left no detail untouched designing a space where New England pickleball players could play year-round.

From court surfacing and lighting to color contrast and fencing, every inch of Suffield Pickleball was built with the player experience in mind

Welcome to Suffield Pickleball

Just over a month after their ribbon cutting, Suffield Pickleball has already become a go-to spot for players in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. Conveniently located just two miles from Hartford Airport, between the Basketball Hall of Fame (Springfield, MA) and the University of Hartford (CT), it draws players from all over.

“Our goal is to give these groups a place to play year round regardless of weather and bring fun and exciting game styles that will allow guests to keep active and make new friends,” says Dan.

Despite being brand new, they’ve already rolled out a lineup of offerings:

  • Ladder Events.  A mix of social and competitive play that keep things fresh.

  • Guided Beginner Open Play. Owners stay on the sidelines to help with rules, scoring, and quick strategy tips.

  • Certified Beginner Clinics. A structured way to learn the game with expert coaching.

  • Leagues & Tournaments Coming Soon. More competitive play is on the way!

But above all, Suffield Pickleball is about community.

More Than Just a Game

“The thing I appreciate most about the pickleball community is how inclusive and welcoming it is,” Dan says. “There aren’t many sports where advanced players are willing to play with and help beginners. Players are always bringing new friends and growing the community.”

That spirit is exactly what fuels Suffield Pickleball. This is a place where everyone belongs.

Ready to Play?

If you’re in the area, they’d love to welcome you to their community. Congratulations to the Laings, Fydenkevez, and Murdocks, and the entire Suffield Pickleball family! The best is yet to come!
