Game ChangeHER Events: Empowering Women Through Pickleball

Game ChangeHER Events is more than just a pickleball camp—it's a movement aimed at empowering women over 40 by blending sport, community, and personal growth. Co-founded by Angela Farmer, an advocate and entertainment industry powerhouse, and Lee Whitwell, the #1 Female Senior Pro Player and a pickleball fan favorite, this organization is redefining what it means to inspire through sport.

With a mission to uplift women both on and off the court, Game ChangeHER Events creates inclusive and motivating spaces where women can connect, learn, and thrive. The initiative will kick off its inaugural event from March 21–23, 2025, at The Plaza in Las Vegas, featuring an impressive lineup of senior pro players, including:

  • Lee Whitwell – #1 Female Senior Pro Player, Nationals Gold Medalist

  • Yvonne Ting – #1 Ranked Masters Female Senior Pro

  • Teresa Tarn – Top 20 Senior Pro and pickleball influencer

  • Clare Grabher – Top 10 Senior Pro

  • Nik Slater – Touring Pro

  • Mary Helen Atkins – Top 10 Senior Pro

A Unique Experience Tailored for Women

Game ChangeHER’s events are designed to be transformational for players of all levels. With a player-to-pro ratio that ensures personalized attention, participants will engage in:

  • Small-group clinics focusing on technique and strategy

  • Live ball sessions to hone real-time gameplay

  • Networking opportunities to connect with like-minded women

  • Community-building workshops designed to foster leadership and collaboration

This isn’t just about improving your game—it’s about creating a space where women feel supported, confident, and connected. From the energy on the court to the friendships built off of it, Game ChangeHER Events stand out as a holistic and empowering experience.

Meet the Visionaries Behind the Movement

Angela Farmer brings decades of experience in advocacy, leadership, and representation to the initiative. With a background in the entertainment industry and a passion for championing LGBTQ+ rights, Angela’s journey has uniquely positioned her to build a community that uplifts and supports women. Her advocacy is deeply personal, having championed equality alongside her wife, Rose Marcario, the former CEO of Patagonia and a renowned activist.

Lee Whitwell, known for her infectious humor and competitive spirit, is no stranger to breaking barriers in pickleball. This past weekend, Lee Whitwell—pickleball’s powerhouse and the #1 Senior Pro—showed the world why she’s a force to be reckoned with. Stepping into the world of singles for the first time, Lee not only took home silver but also claimed Gold at Nationals, proving that her mastery of the court knows no bounds. Her recent Nationals victories are a testament to her skill, but her true legacy lies in her ability to inspire and mentor others. Together, Angela and Lee are shaping the future of women’s pickleball with their shared vision of empowerment and growth.

Why It Matters

At its heart, Game ChangeHER is about more than just pickleball—it’s about creating spaces where women can thrive. In a world that often overlooks the unique challenges faced by women over 40, this initiative is proving that it’s never too late to embrace new opportunities, build confidence, and achieve greatness.

By combining world-class pickleball instruction with opportunities for personal and professional growth, Game ChangeHER is setting a new standard for what women’s sports events can be.
